Yahoo To Prohibit Competitive Keyword Bids Containing Trademarks

Monday, February 6th, 2012

Yahoo Search Marketing (searchmarketing.yahoo.com) has recently announced its advertisers of a new policy to be implemented as of March 1st 2006, concerning the use of trademarks within their products and services *.

Under the new policy, no reference to a trademark can be made (except for ads placed by the trademark owners themselves, obviously), and consequently no bids can be make for keywords containing such trademarks. Exceptions refer to usage of trademarks in non-competitive ads, such as those made by re-sellers, or in informative (and still non-competitive) ads.

The previous policy allowed references to competitors’ trademarks and comparisons as long as they were “objective and informative” – the formulation makes me cringe, as it is clearly troublesome trying to evaluate ones objectivity when speaking of business competitors. As for the “informative” side of it the probability for someone to actually PAY for an ad to be informative of someone elses product/service, thats as believable just like the existence of Santa Claus.

It is really good to see Yahoo making a big step forward in regulating abuse and misuse of trademarks, even though that probably translates in some revenue loss for them, by having certain advertisers migrate to a “friendlier” place such as Google. According to Google’s policies, “[...] advertisers may select trademarked terms as keywords or use them in the content of the ad. As a provider of space for advertisements, Google is not in a position to arbitrate trademark disputes between advertisers and trademark owners. As stated in our Terms and Conditions, advertisers are responsible for the keywords and ad text that they choose to use. Accordingly, Google encourages trademark owners to resolve their disputes directly with the advertiser, particularly because the advertiser may have similar ads on other sites. However, as a courtesy to trademark owners, Google is willing to perform a limited investigation of reasonable complaints.”

The question is why would Yahoo change its policies and apparently offer Google an even bigger bite from the SEM cake? It is way too early to say now, and their official explanation is not entirely believable: Yahoo states to have had the users’ best interest in mind, by providing them with a better experience when searching terms that contain trademarks. Though this would make a laudable initiative with a good PR potential, experts know the search market is driven by large publishers and advertisers and not by the little surfing guys. Numerous speculations can be made: threats of large legal actions from trademark owners, pressure from certain groups of interests are among the most vehiculated ones.

However, a more plausible one is that Yahoo makes preparations for a much larger scale movement destined to influence the market in a manner we cannot anticipate just yet.

Until further industry news, there’s one thing to rejoice: from now on, no “better than Botox” ads on Yahoo and their partner sites!

* – the products and services covered by the new policy are: Sponsored Search, Local Advertising, Search Submit, Product Submit, Travel Submit and Directory Submit.

Top Three Cheap Les Paul Guitars

Monday, February 6th, 2012

Les Paul guitars are normally priced in the thousands. If you look around there are some cheap Les Paul guitars to be found. Good cheap Les Paul guitars can be found for under $500 dollars. These types of instruments can provide years of playing enjoyment.

Our first of the cheap Les Paul guitars is the Epiphone Ultra electric guitar. The Ultra looks similiar to the Les Paul Standard, but to make it more “acoustic” sounding, its mahogany body has logically placed hollow cavities making it around 5.5 pounds lighter. It’s very comfortable to play this guitar due to its belly contour on the back.

Next is the Epiphone Les Paul Special II electric guitar. This guitar is cheaply priced and provides a classic humbucker sound. The neck is a nice mahogany, and the fingerboard is rosewood with dot inlays. The hardware is chrome, plus it has tone and volume controls.

Our final affordable guitar under $500 is the Epiphone Les Paul 100 electric guitar. This instrument has two humbucker pickups, a fretboard of rosewood with a bolt-on mahogany neck, plus outstanding body wood. All this gives it one of the best sustaining tone characters. If you want to let your leads sing, try the Les Paul 100.

The Beginners Guide To Affirmations!

Monday, February 6th, 2012

Imagine what would happen if you approached someone and insulted them.

I hate you! You’re ugly! No one likes you! You’re a really miserable person!

Well, apart from receiving a slap on the face or punch on the nose, you’re also quite likely to hurt their feelings.

What about saying something positive? Perhaps something like this:

You are so beautiful. You’re a really great person and a wonderful friend.

Would you agree that this statement should produce a very different result? It will empower the recipient. It builds their self-esteem and feeling of self-worth.

Let’s change the scenario slightly. In this case consider how you would feel if someone else approached you with the negative statement. Would you likely be hurt? I imagine so. Now consider your feelings if someone approached you with the positive statement. How wonderful would that feel?

Words are incredibly powerful! There is no truth at all to the old saying, Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me. Negative words cut deeply, creating wounds that can last a lifetime. Positive words on the other hand have the power to heal those wounds, and rebuild you better than ever before.

Let’s change the scenario again. This time, imagine you’re standing in front of a mirror and repeating a negative statement to yourself over and over again. I hate you! I hate you! I hate you! How does this feel? Not very nice, is it? How about a positive statement? You are so beautiful! You are so beautiful! You are so beautiful! Now, that’s much better.

I know what youre thinking though. You wouldn’t do that to yourself, would you? You wouldn’t expose yourself to such negativity on purpose.

Well, I’ve got news for you. Your subconscious mind is already exposing you to tens of thousands of thoughts per day. And if youre not already totally happy and completely successful, then your thoughts are most likely negative.

Take notice of your thoughts for the next 24 hours. If you’re like most people, you’ll be quite shocked at the negativity that comes from your subconscious mind.

And that, my friends, is affirmations at work!

An affirmation is simply a statement which you of the repeat to yourself over and over again. The statement may be positive, in which case it empowers you, or it may be negative, in which case it hurts.

Whether you like it or not, you are currently using affirmations. Unfortunately though, youre not controlling the process and your subconscious mind is subjecting you to a constant barrage of negativity. Negative statement after negative statement after negative statement!

Years of negative thoughts have led you to have negative beliefs about yourself and your life. These negative beliefs led to negative habits. And these negative habits are what led you to the life you live now.

So if you’re not totally happy with your life, what can you do about it?

It’s really quite simple. You need to take conscious control of your thought process, and replace those negative thoughts with positive ones.

Conscious repetition of positive affirmations will in time lead to your subconscious mind also producing positive and empowering thoughts. These positive thoughts will lead to positive beliefs about yourself and your life. These positive beliefs will lead to positive habits. And positive habits will lead you to a life of happiness and success.

And that’s a wonderful way to live!

So using affirmations for personal growth and self-improvement is simply a matter of repeating positive statements to ourselves over and over again. To make this most effective though, here are some simple guidelines:

1. Make the affirmation positive! Say, I am happy! rather than I am no longer depressed! Can you see how the first is positive while the second is a double negative statement?

2. The affirmation must be in the present tense. Don’t say, One day I will be happy! Instead say, I am happy now!

3. The affirmation must result in good feelings. The more intense the feelings, the faster you will see a positive change in your life.

I personally find that the easiest way to create affirmations is to first write down my current negative thoughts. I then write the opposite of that thought, ensuring it is positive and in the present tense.

For example if you wrote down I am feeling sad, you could replace that with I am feeling happy. I live a happy and joyful life with complete peace of mind. I constantly attract opportunities for happiness into my life.

You would then repeat this as much as you could, until your subconscious believes it, and starts reinforcing your new way of life.

Try placing a copy on the wall beside your bathroom mirror, so you see it each morning and evening. Place a copy on an index card which you carry in your pocket, and refer to several times a day.

Partner up with an affirmation buddy. Arrange that every time you see or speak to that person, you will say an affirmation to them. And theyll say one to you. Imagine how good it would feel to hear someone tell you several times a day, I love you and I value your friendship so highly. Youre a wonderful person.

If youre serious about creating rapid change in your life, consider recording yourself saying the affirmation over and over onto a tape or MP3 player, and then listen to this whenever you have a chance. While getting ready for work, while driving to work, during your lunch break, driving home, and while relaxing in the evening. (Dont do it while your partner is trying to talk to you though. I learnt that one the hard way!)

Commit to this for the next 90 days, and see the changes it makes in your life. I promise you it is incredibly powerful. Remember though, that this is simply one tool in your happiness tool-kit. Dont neglect your other tools. Continue with your Gratitude Journal, your meditation, your EFT practice, or whatever else you enjoy. And ensure you use your affirmation correctly. Like any tool, if you use it correctly youll get great results. If you use it incorrectly, youll get poor results. So keep up the repetition until it is subconscious! Repeat the statements with intensity, and really feel how great it would feel to have that affirmation manifest in your life right now.

So, get started now. Create some positive happy affirmations for changing your life.

I am a happy and cheerful person.

I attract joy into my life, all day long.

I am deserving of love, and I love myself unconditionally.

I accept my body as it is, with gratitude and love. I am a beautiful person.

I am a caring and compassionate person.

I attract only good people into my life, and build relationships based on mutual respect and love, for the betterment of all concerned.

Whatever it is, go for it. Enjoy the process! It can be great fun.

In a play of baseball, the glove of baseball can be found tapi behind the dish at the house and catches the ball of the jug. It has most difficult to charge in the play with regard to the importance. Of its position it has the sight of the whole field. In this case, it has the responsibility to carry out the other players in the play. It has to give the responsability it to realize of the forces of the pitcher and of the weakness of the batter . The Perfect Teen Party

Sunday, February 5th, 2012

What is the difference between a teen party and a really great teen party? It probably is not something major, unless of course you have forgotten entirely to provide food! The secret to making any teen party perfect is in a few small details that most people do not consider.

First, as the name suggests, a teen party is for teens. It is surprising how many teen parties turn sour because they are not suitable for teens at all. Consider the teens that you are throwing a party for. Think about their personalities and the things they like to do. Chances are that a teen party will be better if you plan a party that teens will be excited to come to. Do not host a teen party planning to show multiple movies to teens that are too active to sit still for an hour. Plan a teen party filled with fun and unique activities that will offer a variety of options but keep everyone happily busy.

Second, no teen party will be memorable without the perfect menu. Everyone knows that teens love to eat, so there is no way to throw a perfect teen party without taking food into serious consideration. Depending on what time your party is going to take place you may or may not have to provide an entire meal to your guests. Perhaps snack foods and finger foods will do the trick. Whatever kinds of food you decide on, be sure that you offer a variety to choose from. Some teens will prefer pepperoni pizza while others would never dream of eating a slice. Have healthy and not-so-healthy options and you will probably be safe. Try to come up with creative food options and you will really have a teen party to talk about. Make icy fruit drinks in a blender and the teens will love feeling a little more grown up.

A third important thing to remember when preparing a teen party is location. Since most teen parties are held in homes it could be fun to plan your teen party at a local park. Teens will enjoy the change and will probably love being outside. If you decide on an outdoor party you will be able to come up with suitable activities quickly and you will even be able to consider outdoor food as well. You can also choose to hold a great teen party at a special location to the teens like a local coffee shop or skate rink.

Remember that any teen party can be special when you keep it focused on teens, filled with food and in a special location. Enjoy planning!

Hey, boxing fans

Sunday, February 5th, 2012

Chris Byrd (39-2-1) is defending his IBF title for the fifth time, in a rematch of a bout that took place almost six years ago. Byrd will be facing Wladimir Klitschko (45-3) of Germany in Germany on Saturday night in a fight that will be televised on HBO PPV.

Go ahead, and try to find an article about this attractive match in your local newspaper ok, wait, dont bother Ill save you the time and tell you that it wont be there. Almost all of todays boxing information is online, and it caters to that small niche of fight fans who live and breathe the sport.

I have been a huge fan of the squared circle for many years, and even I will admit that my interest in the sport has dropped dramatically. It is not all because of the scandals and weird occurrences that happen on a weekly basis; it is just a matter of the lack of good matchups that the sport has to offer. The lack of hype and mainstream media coverage also has hurt the casual fan, and causes many of us diehard fans to yearn for the days gone by of Mike Tyson, Larry Holmes, Sugar Ray Leonard, and even Prince Naseem.

Lets just focus on the heavyweight division for now. We have the nearly 40 year-old James Toney, a guy whose best days occurred about 12 years ago, still in the mix for a shot at one of the four titles, and we have Oliver McCall, a man who left the ring crying several years ago after a loss to Lennox Lewis, currently rated third by the WBC.

In addition, there is Hasim Rahman as the WBC champion. Rahman is a nice gent who scored a lucky knockout of Lennox Lewis a few years back, only to get pummeled in the rematch, so having him as champ means we know that something fishy is going on in this division.

The other three heavyweight beltholders quick, see if you name just one – are not recognized by the general public and probably could wander into the local Starbucks without getting acknowledged.

Have you heard of Nicolay Valuev? He is the WBA champion; how about the WBO champion, the well-known and famous Sergei Liakhovich? Chris Byrd, the IBF title holder, is, perhaps, known only for having zero power, and for out-dancing and out-jabbing his opponents in the ring. He does have flashes of power, but American fans are used to and want to see their heavyweight champions pound the leather and pound the other guy into submission.

There is still plenty of boxing on ESPN, and I recall a few fights in recent years on network television, but those have seemed to disappear fairly quickly. Boxing makes its money, and, in my opinion, rips folks off on those major Pay-Per-View cards. These events used to be times when my friends and I would gather, fire up the grill, have a few beers, and enjoy the action. There have not been many of those gatherings in recent years, and Im ashamed to say that the last time the grill was fired up was during another Tyson fiasco.

The price for bouts on PPV – and we are not talking good boxing – starts at 30 bucks and works its way up to near $60 for the Major battles. There really hasnt been a major battle since Lewis took on Klitschos brother the now retired Vitali.

Plus, while we at it, let me get my two cents in on the undercard fights on these PPV cards. We used to have the cool factor with Butterbean and women fighters, and now we routinely get to watch Strawweight fighters, otherwise known as the Battle of the Poodles. Not my cup of tea. Boxing just isnt an event thats worth watching anymore or, more importantly, buying.

Hey, this column is almost finished, and I nearly forgot to talk more about that heavyweight title fight on Saturday. I guess my rants about boxing, which I truly do enjoy watching, have thrown me off track. It is really a sad state of affairs, but I digress.

Whenever Chris Byrd is fighting, and you have to pay money to watch, spend your fifty bucks elsewhere. With that being said, there is some interesting history here, but not enough to shell out the dough. Byrd defeated Vitali (when Vitali quit with a shoulder injury), and Vladimir avenged his brothers defeat with a decision win back in 2000.

Even though Byrd is the champion and Vitali was left plastered on the ring by 39-year old Corrie Sanders a few years back, Vitali is an almost 4-1 favorite and has home-arena advantage. The prediction here is that this one ends up in a majority draw, with Byrd retaining his title, and thousands more suckers – oh I mean PPV buyers – leaving their couches to yell obscenities at the cold dark skies above.

Nobody Ever Knows They Got Joining Instructions

Sunday, February 5th, 2012

It’s true! Ask any delegate whether they got their joining instructions and they’ll look at you blankly. If you explain that we sent you a letter describing the event and how to get here; a small glimmer of light starts to burn. This piece of event jargon is one of the few technical terms that delegates don’t really need to know about.

To give your delegates complete confidence that your event is well organized and that their every need has been considered, it is well worth the preparation time to design comprehensive joining instructions. Not only should this limit the number of calls and emails to clarify small details about the event, it will also help to orientate the delegates to the venue and the overall shape of the event before they arrive.

Joining instructions should clearly describe all of the following:

The title of the event.

The date and programmed start and finish times for the event.

The name and address of the venue.

Telephone number(s) for the venue.

Travel directions and approximate travel times for automobile, train and air travelers.

Recommended accommodation within easy reach of the event.

Recommended local restaurants and other facilities like gyms, spas, swimming pools, movie complexes.

Any local attractions or places of interest.

Dress code for the event (if appropriate).

Any preparation the delegates need to undertake prior to the event.

Any material the delegates should bring for use in the event (if required).

A reminder to bring proof of registration.

If possible keep your joining instructions as one document to ensure that information is not lost. It may be easy to include the venue’s own details as part of the package but remember that the joining instructions are as important a piece of marketing as any of your published materials. If you can have them printed on good quality paper, branded with your event logo, clearly laid out and free from factual and typographical errors you will be reinforcing your professionalism, expertise and focus on delegate satisfaction.
Delegate information gathering

The booking process is also an ideal opportunity to learn more about your delegates and their reasons for attending. People will feel that they are getting more value for their money if the event addresses their pet issues. Your presenters will also welcome the opportunity to make the material come alive by stimulating audience participation through the additional intelligence that can be gathered at this time.

This, of course, means that your booking administrators need to be more than just box tickers. They should be personable, chatty people who can engage the delegates in conversation and who are able to listen actively to what they are being told. They may not be experts in the subject themselves but if they were that would be ideal.

So don’t scare your delegates with jargon; make them feel cared for and part of the process to get the most out of your event.

The Perils Of Buying And Financing A Used Car

Saturday, February 4th, 2012

Whenever a person buys or leases a car, he seeks ways to finance this move. Most auto financing involves a car loan, which entails a detailed check on his credit history and a tough interview about car finance. When he undergoes all these to buy a used car, it is only fair that he also performs his own investigations about the car he is going to buy. In fact, he should never consider buying a used car, which history has not been checked. If he does, he may just end up paying for a piece of junk.

A used car must be checked for its title, registration, odometer, and the problems that it had weathered before.it reached your eyes. A title check will determine if the car is salvaged, flooded or rebuilt. For example, many cars were destroyed during the 9 -11 World Trade tragedy. Many cars, too, were damaged during the hurricanes and floods. These cars were salvaged by enterprising people. The cars will be rebuilt and sold again at car auctions. A title check will also discover if the used car has lemon history.

A registration check will determine if the used car has been used as a fleet car, or as a taxi, or even as a police car. If the used car has been utilized in any of these, then it is safe to say that within a given period of time, this particular used car has covered more miles than the average privately used car. A registration check will also reveal if the used car was ever rented or leased.

The cars odometer is an instrument used to measure the distance traveled by a vehicle. An odometer check will show if the odometer has been broken or fraud. It will also show if it has been rolled back or rolled over. If the odometer has been tampered, this does not bode well for the next owner of the used car. The car may be older than what the dealer is telling you. Or it may have mileage problems.

A problem check will determine if the used car has sustained fire damage or an explosion. It will also show if it has been involved in a major accident. The fire or accident may have inflicted a still undetected damage on the used car. It is also quite creepy to use a car that has cradled dead bodies before. A problem check will reveal if the car has been stolen. A car that has been stolen may no longer have all its original parts.

A used car may give you more problems than you can manage. But not all used cars are damaged, leased or stolen. This is why there are still many people who take out car loans to buy a used car. To be safe, the potential buyer must order a vehicle history report.

Online Health Insurance Leads

Saturday, February 4th, 2012

Health insurance lead generation systems provide a stead stream of potential clients for health insurance brokers. Health insurance leads are considered to be people who may need health coverage to supplement the health coverage provided by their employer. A health insurance lead can also be someone who is self-employed and needs to obtain coverage for themselves or their entire family. Health insurance brokers rely on health insurance leads systems to supply them with enough potential clients to keep their business going. There are a large number of people who either need additional coverage or are in business for themselves and need an individual or family health insurance plan.

Health insurance lead services are available at a reasonable cost to health insurance brokers. Typically, health insurance leads companies will charge an annual or monthly fee for the leads and account maintenance. When considering a health insurance lead system, it is best to look for one that offers an unlimited amount of leads for one low monthly fee. Some companies that provide health insurance leads charge a per-lead fee. Make sure the leads are guaranteed for you money back or at least a guarantee that the company will replace them free of additional charges.

The way it works is through referral systems. The qualified health insurance lead fills out a form on the health insurance leads provider’s website. Upon receipt of the form, the lead service emails the health insurance agent the information submitted by the health insurance lead. The health insurance agent then contacts the health insurance lead via email or phone and provides them with a quote on the type of health insurance coverage they are looking for. In order to obtain the most qualified health insurance leads, health insurance brokers can give the leads service company specific information about the types of coverage offered.

Many health insurance lead generation systems come with automated email follow-ups. It is important for the insurance agent to contact the health insurance leads as soon as possible. Some of the health insurance leads are provided to more than one insurance agent. With the cost of health care constantly rising, the health insurance industry is very competitive and timing could make the difference between success and failure. With a consistent health insurance lead generation system and quick follow-ups, a steady stream of high quality leads will continue to come in. This could give you a huge advantage over the competition.

Refinancing Points To Remember

Saturday, February 4th, 2012

You would consider refinancing only when going gets tough and making ends meet becomes difficult with credits looming over large on you; and you are in a debt trap with creditors calling on you day-in and day-out. Refinancing is your option if it helps reduce your net monthly outgo. Weigh the pros and cons of the option and keeping in mind, the hard facts of life.

Some Key Points to Ponder

1. Reducing your monthly installments. Multiple credits and mortgages bog you down with accumulated interests. A reasonable refinancing reduces the monthly outgo and the number of checks to write for a similar period.

2. Breakeven time. Although it depends on multitude of factors, sooner the breakeven the better.

3. Points to ponder. Points are onetime percentage costs included into your mortgage. Higher the point lower will be the interest rate. Make a judgment depending on your situation.

4. Risk reduction by paying off high cost flexible interest refinance.

5. Weigh the option of high closing cost with lower interest rate against no/low closing cost with high interest over the same or lesser period.

6. Consider refinancing if you can generate some extra income through refinancing. The comforts of additional resources cushion your efforts to see off debts quicker than you imagined. If not, it is going to take you from bad to worse.

7. You can refinance that portion of the debt which was shared by your spouse before divorcing.

8. Secured refinance gets you lowest interest. You can use your home equity to secure refinancing.

9. Tax matters. Taxation differs when you switchover from one credit to another or when you refinance an existing loan. Consulting an expert must be your top priority.

10. Paper work. None of the above points hold well, unless you got all your requisite papers in place.

Dont haste through the steps. Keep in mind this is your last straw. Check the credentials of the lender before you sign on the dotted line. It takes a very hard effort to keep away from scrupulous operators. Speak to their customers to get an insight. Understand their processes before committing yourself. Better still, take notes and compare with other lenders credentials. With due diligence, and keeping the key points in mind, re-financing, is afterall not a big eye-monster that is hard to tame. Once that re-financing monster is tame, your financial status should recover in no time.

car horn | police siren | horns | air horns | emergency light

Saturday, February 4th, 2012

A car horn sound attracts a lot of attention. Designing car horn sounds allows car builders to fit the sound of the horns to that vehicle. The main function of a horn or a siren is to alert the people from any danger. Designing a car horn or a siren thus involves a study between the need to customize the sounds and the necessity of providing appropriate warning signals. For example a police siren itself alerts people of its arrival. With a particular type of siren itself, you are able to know whether its an ambulance or a fire brigade.

National Golf Tournaments for Competitive Recreational Golfers

Friday, February 3rd, 2012

Whether you’re an avid novice or a seasoned player, the chances are good that you’ve wished for the opportunity to compete in a golf tournament. It’s great to watch the PGA Tour on television, but nothing is more satisfying than entering and playing in golf competitions yourself. Unfortunately, while golf events are routinely held at private courses and country clubs, most golfers who play on public courses don’t get the opportunity to participate. Even if they do, they don’t have the chance to compete against golfers from around the nation.

Hard Habits To Break Lead To Heart Disease

Friday, February 3rd, 2012

What do lack of exercise, smoking, and a poor diet have in common? All three are not only hard habits to break, but they are considered to be risk factors for heart disease. Inactivity or lack of exercise makes people twice as likely to have heart disease as active people. It is also associated with obesity, increased blood pressure, increased risk of diabetes and high cholesterol. Experts have warned that failure to exercise can be as bad for health as smoking a packet of cigarettes every day. An estimated 65 percent to 85 percent of the world’s population fail to take enough exercise.

Increase Small Business Income with Check Software

Friday, February 3rd, 2012

It’s not easy being a small business owner. Things that are minor bumps in the road for big companies can be major hurdles for the small business. An inventory shipment delay, for example, is no big deal if you’re a major retailer or e-tailer. That same delay, though, can negatively impact a small company’s relationships with its customers and ultimately cost that business money. If a small company provides goods or services to other businesses, the loss of one or two customers can mean the difference between making a profit and taking a loss. Such is not the case for major players in the business-to-business marketplace.

Teaching Student Drivers: 9 Tips To Keep Everyone Safe And Sane

Friday, February 3rd, 2012

I have had the experience of teaching several people how to drive. Some were youngsters, but I have also taught a few adults how to drive too. Lets just say that I am more than glad to have retired from this practice as teaching someone how to drive can be taxing mentally as well as physically. Still, not everyone has the funds to go to driving school or an available friend to help out. So, if you are one of the lucky ones playing the role of instructor, here are some tips to help keep you sane and your student listening.

1.Set A Schedule. Keeping teens on a schedule can be nearly impossible as they juggle their busy lives with after school programs, work, homework, socializing, etc., but it is something that you must do. Find a time that works for the both of you and go out no more than one hour each time for your lessons. Oh, by the way, make sure your driver in training has his or her drivers permit on them at all times.

2.Simple Start. Keep the first lesson or two simple. Backing in and out of the driveway and driving around the neighborhood first are good starts. If you live on a busy road, then you should drive the car to a less busy area before allowing your student to take over. At the very beginning, avoid driving on days when pavement is wet dealing with water on the road is a separate lesson for the more experienced student.

3.A Good Beginning. Thirty years after I first received my license, I remember in my lessons being told that there were four things that a driver must do before even starting the car: door, seat, seatbelt, mirror. In other words: close and lock the doors, adjust the drivers seat for your personal settings, fasten your seatbelt, and adjust side and rear view mirrors. Then, put the key in the ignition, start the car, look all around, engage the transmission, and slowly step on the accelerator and get moving.

4.Moving Forward. Once your driver has a good feel for the car no jackrabbit starts or hard breaking observed step things up and start practicing using hand and turn signals, parallel parking, how to negotiate turns and curbs, etc.

5.Stepping Out. After several lessons of driving locally and practicing safe driver habits, it is time to take the student out onto a busy road. Keep this lesson short to allow the nervous student time to adjust to driving in traffic. At least initially avoid rush hour traffic, highways, and areas with excessive pedestrian traffic. Make sure your student understands road signs, traffic signals, stopping/yielding, and the myriad of other rules of the road. Repeat lessons as needed to help your student grow accustomed to driving in traffic. Once your student builds up their confidence, take them out on the highway.

6.Study and Review. While behind the wheel lessons are extremely important, knowledge about driving rules and regulations are important too. When driving down the road, point out road signs and ask your student what they mean. Discuss the fines and points that can be assessed by the Department of Motor Vehicles {DMV} for violations. All of these things will be on their written test.

7.Defensive Driving. If you live in a more northerly climate, learning how to drive on ice and snow is essential to being a safe driver. Even if your student learns how to drive and secures their license in warmer months, insist on getting back in the car with them when wet leaves, snow, and ice are on the ground. Also make certain that your student understands how alcohol can impair judgment, how a radio, cell phone, or other passengers can distract them, and how to drive around pedestrians, bicyclists, mopeds, etc.

8.Check Fluids. An important lesson apart from actual driving and preparing for the written test is maintenance of the vehicle. Your student should be familiar with looking under the hood, checking fluid levels, hoses, belts, etc. Also show your student how to check tire pressure, do a visual check of turn signals, headlights, and all other lights. Familiarization with the exhaust and suspension systems is important too.

9.Ready, Set, Test! Once you are certain that your student understands all the rules of the road, is exhibiting safe driving practices, and is a confident driver then take the test. Do not let a pending birthday or special event drive that decision as you want to produce a safe driver, not a reckless one.

Once your student has passed their test make certain that the information on their license is correct, your cars registration is up to date, your insurance has them covered, and the car that he will be driving is road ready before allowing him to drive by himself.

Remember, driving is a privilege and not a right. Good driving habits are formed early on, but so are bad habits. Nip any problems in the bud early to ensure the safety of your student and everyone else who is out on our roads.

Seven Easy Steps For Parents or Teachers to Help Teach Children, Ages Three To Six

Friday, February 3rd, 2012

My name is Scott Waring and I am an American teacher in Taiwan with a BA in Elementary Education and a MS in Counseling Education. I have learned a lot about teaching, but it wasn't until I met my Taiwanese wife at Idaho State University and we moved to Taiwan where we opened a school, that I learned teaching to children from three to six was not just possible, but beyond anything I ever expected. I have also published two novels for kids, "George's Pond" and "West's Time Machine" being sold at all on-line stores. My wife and I currently own a school that has 150 students, fifty of which are ages 3-6 years' old.

An Introduction To Pallets & Their Uses

Thursday, February 2nd, 2012

When you see a delivery truck open as its being unloaded, you will almost certainly see pallets if you take a peek inside. The majority of pallets are wooden, but plastic, paper or metal are alternate options. A pallet is a flat structure, which is used to transport a variety of goods while being lifted by a forklift. In some areas, but less widely used, metal pallets are also available. Before being lifted, the goods are placed on the pallet and secured by straps to ensure safe transportation.

The most economical of pallets, which are made of softwood, are disposable and are generally discarded once they reach their shipping destination. Both hardwood and plastic pallets are more expensive and are used time after time. Some manufacturers choose not to discard older wooden pallets as they can be used as donations of firewood. Paper pallets, on the other hand, are used only for light loads because they are not as strong as those made of wood. Paper pallets are most widely used in businesses where recycling and hassle free disposal are necessary.

The most common place to see pallets would be in a warehouse or factory, which is where delivery trucks are loaded and unloaded. Rows of merchandise are transported on pallets and longevity is very important when transporting such a large quantity of merchandise. The more items being delivered, the higher the value and the more dependable the mode of transportation must be.

In addition for providing efficient shipment, pallets are used to save time. Consider a situation where a retailer orders 250 boxes of one product. A pallet would save much time in that all of the products are unloaded at one time, using a forklift. Were it not for a pallet, the store workers would have to make continuous trips on and off of the delivery truck just to get the product in their store. A pallet allows all of the products to be removed at once and placed on the floor for easy distribution. As such, pallets are widely used among retail or manufacturers for loading and unloading a heavy load of merchandise at one time.

In order to efficiently operate, virtually all businesses must incorporate the use of pallets. From large retailers to small jewelry stores, each business uses this product either in-house or in a warehouse for easy retrieval of their products. Automobile manufacturers even use pallets in transportation of spare auto parts or deliveries from their suppliers.

Perhaps one of the best aspects of pallets is the various ways they can be relocated. As mentioned previously, they can easily be moved using a forklift. In addition, they can also be transported using jacks and human strength. A forklift is a very expensive piece of equipment, but a jack is far more economical and can be purchased at a fraction of the cost of a forklift. As such, there is a transportation for pallets no matter what the budget. Whether a large retail corporation or a small, start-up business, pallets are readily available for all to use.
