Surgeon General Uncertain About What Hospital To Check His Grandmother Into

January 27th, 2012

The S.rgeon General, after reading the results of a recent report about the alarming number of fatalities in U. S. hospitals that are due to preventable human error, was uncertain about what hospital to check his grandmother into when he learned that she was suffering from shortness of breath.

He decided the time had come from decisive government action. As a result, all hospitals must now display at the registration desk the following warning: “The Surgeon General has determined that hospitals may be hazardous to your health and may result in accidental death.”

The American Civil Liberties Union is protesting the necessity of posting the warning, maintaining it infringes on the right of hospitals to conduct their business with the normal expectation that a certain number of patients will live and a certain number will leave in a less vital condition.

A spokesman for the ACLU stated, “This is clearly an infringement of the right to free enterprise. Hospitals should be entirely free to inform patients they can expect excellent healthcare, even if the spokesperson is not certain the institution can provide it. Compelling hospitals to be forthright about the prospects for survival unnecessarily infringes on

Panic at the Disco’s fast rising popularity

January 27th, 2012

Panic! at the Disco is a pop rock/electronica band based out of Las Vegas, Nevada. The band is comprised of Brendon Urie (vocals, guitar, keyboard) and his childhood friend, Spencer Smiths (drums), along with their schoolmate, Ryan Ross (guitar, keyboard, backing vocals).

To promote their music, the band made contact with Pete Wentz (of Fall Out Boy) via his LiveJournal webpage. Impressed by the band, Wentz personally met with the band and signed them to his imprint label Decaydance. Under the label, the band released their debut album, A Fever You Cant Sweat Out, which would debut at #112 on the Billboard 200 album charts.

Featured in Spin magazine as their band of the day in early October 2005, reaching #1 on the MySpace chart, and consistently staying in PureVolumes Top 10 chart, would only help grow the bands popularity. An appearance on MTVs TRL on January 17, 2006, at the premier of their music video for I Write Sins Not Tragedies, also helped garner the band much publicity.

To date, the bands 2005 debut album, A Fever you Cant Sweat Out has sold over 750,000 units. The band is currently headlining a North American summer

Our Fears And Worries Can Distort The Reality Of The Situation

January 27th, 2012

At times, our worries and anxieties can overwhelm us. In addition, our worries can distort our perception of what is reality and what is not. Here is a brief list of techniques that a person can use to help gain a better perspective on things during our anxious moments.

When feeling anxious, stop what you are doing and try to do something that will relax you. A person should take a deep breath and try to find something to do for a few minutes to get their mind off of the problem. A person could get some fresh air, listen to some music, or do an activity that will give them a fresh perspective on things.

Remember that our fearful thoughts are exaggerated and can make the problem worse. A good way to manage your worry is to challenge your negative thinking with positive statements and realistic thinking. When encountering thoughts that make your fearful or anxious, challenge those thoughts by asking yourself questions that will maintain objectivity and common sense.

When overwhelmed with worry, a person may encounter a lot of scary thoughts coming at them all at once. Instead of getting upset, remember that

Nascar History of the Sport

January 27th, 2012

NASCAR is actually an acronym for the National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing. The organization was founded in 1948 by Ed Otto and William France. The two men recognized the fact that people enjoyed watching car races, and that there needed to be some standardization behind the racing industry in order to attract more racers and to make the races equitable for those who entered. Having more who were willing to enter the races naturally increased the number of fans who were willing to pay to watch a natural step in the marketing of Nascar.

During those early years of Nascar racing, cars were strictly stock, meaning they were basically exactly as the manufacturer released them. But a few accidents convinced those in control of the racing events that some modifications for safety would be a prudent step. It wasnt long before other modifications were allowed to increase speed, handling and other racing performance issues.

After about another decade of this type of racing, those who were serious about the sport began creating cars that were exclusively for racing. In those cases, the cars typically incorporated all the modifications allowed by the Nascar officials. For several more years,

Shea Butter Lip Balm No Petroleum Jelly

January 27th, 2012

Natural Lip Balm Vs the Other Kind

Lip balm has been around for over 100 years. But it took a wrong turn right at the beginning. The inventor of lip balm, D.. C. D. Fleet, started an unfortunate trend by using petroleum jelly in his Chap Stick lip balm, and it’s only become clear in recent years just how ineffective petroleum jelly is as a lip balm. At best, since petroleum jelly isn’t absorbed by the skin, it provides only a short-term fix for dry, chapped lips. And since it keeps the skin from breathing, it can — if used frequently — actually make your lips more chapped. If youre looking for a lip balm that can actually heal chapped lips you should consider lip balm made with shea butter. Shea butter’s effect on the skin is different from that of petroleum jelly. Instead of lying inert on the surface of the lips, it is absorbed by the skin cells. Because it improves the moisture retention capacity of your lips, your lips become dry and chapped much less frequently.

Why Shea Butter Lip Balm Works

In early adulthood, all of our skin cells — including those in our

Laptops To Own Or Not To Own?

January 27th, 2012

I have owned a laptop off and on for a number of years. Due to battery life and accessibility, they have just not been a cost-effective solution for work or pleasure. That is until recently.

Last fall, I purchased a Dell Inspiron 700m laptop primarily for work. It has been the best computer investment I have ever made and I have five computers in my home (Note: I am writing this sitting in the passenger seat of our family SUV after visiting Grandma.).

This is not a commercial for Dell. This is about laptops in general and the minimum specifications you should look for if considering a purchase. Keep in mind, advances are constantly occurring and the technology here will be outdated soon. Use this guide as a minimum starting point.

To me, the biggest concern or problem with a laptop has been its portability portability meaning the battery is needed. You absolutely have to have a computer with Centrino Mobile Technology. The Centrino technology allows my battery to power my notebook for up to four hours! Four hours!

With four hours of computer time, you need to be able to access the Internet (Thank you Al Gore). That

School Days: it could happen to you

January 26th, 2012

The Japanese video game industry, particularly the eroge segment of it, has produced some odd storyline and characters over the years. Games of this sort, generally labeled as dating sims by unaware Western audiences, have a set of stock character archetypes that developers tend to inevitably draw upon. Games of this sort also tend to be set in idyllic, happy high school settings, far removed from the social anxiety and performance anxiety that Japanese youths feel during that age. Games that deviate from the formula do appear, but they hardly make a major impact. That was the case until 0verflow, a moderately known eroge developer, came out with School Days.

Do It Yourself DNA Testing

January 26th, 2012

DNA testing was popularized only in recent years mainly due to having it extremely handy when it comes to high-profile criminal investigations as well as in paternity cases. DNA, otherwise known as deoxyribonucleic acid, is most commonly used in trying to prove the relationship of an individual to another person, that linking is aimed at trying to determine whether or not those two people are related or not.

1. New Testing Methods

There are also various new tests that have been created in recent years, however, which have also turned to DNA testing, a highly popular tool for determining a persons ancestry. As DNA is passed down from one generation of your family to the next, there are some parts that still remain almost unchanged. This creates the highly unbreakable link between family generations and through DNA testing. DNA testing can also be of great help when trying to reconstruct ones family history

2. Paternity Tests

However, DNA testing, in spite of its many benefits is not able to provide you with your entire family tree or be able to tell you who your ancestors are. DNA testing can, however, determine if you are related to the

Peyton Manning

January 26th, 2012

Born in New Orleans on March 24, 1976, Peyton Manning is the son of legendary New Orleans quarterback Archie Manning and Olivia Manning. While Peyton attended high school, Archie was the color commentator for the New Orleans Saints radio station. As a youngster, Peyton would occasionally visit off-season practices with his dad. On one occasion, then Saints coach Jim Mora, allowed Peyton to work out and toss some passes to the Saints receivers. Even more unbelievable than a high school student practicing with NFL receivers is the fact that he fit in perfectly at such a young age. While attending Isidore Newman High School, Manning served as quarterback during all 3 years. At the end of his senior season, Peyton Manning was the top recruited quarterback in the nation and was named as the Gatorade Circle of Champions National Player of the Year.

Following high school graduation, Manning decided to attend the University of Tennessee where he, once again, became a star quarterback for the team. While proving his skills on the field, Peyton Manning proved that he had equal skills in the classroom. Earning a BA in speech communication and graduating with honors was important to Manning, which is

Cholesterol Control

January 26th, 2012

Newspapers have reported on the drawbacks of having a diet high in fat. High-fat diet has been linked to high cholesterol and ultimately to heart attacks. Hence, people have started avoiding beef and eggs. But cholesterol is not bad. Our body needs it to protect nerves and build new cells and hormones. It is only when we include foods like pizzas, burgers, ice creams, steaks or any food containing animal product that the problem starts. Excess cholesterol settles along the walls of the arteries and can clog them thus, restricting blood flow. This gives rise to angina, heart attack or stroke. It has also been shown that high cholesterol leads to gallstones. There are two types of cholesterol called good cholesterol or HDL and bad cholesterol or LDL. LDL is the cholesterol that clogs the arteries and should be lower while HDL scours the artery walls and removes the harmful LDL and should be higher.

Doctors recommend reducing and avoiding high-fat diets containing meat, eggs and dairy products. But you can use the following home remedies for treatment:

Increase the intake of Vitamin E: It is advised to increase your intake of Vitamin E to 400 international units

Managing The Stresses And Anxieties Of Maintaining A Family

January 26th, 2012

It can be tough in dealing with the stresses and anxieties maintaining your family and/or household. Some people may have a hard time taking care of the kids, holding down a job, and taking care of the house. Here are some tips on how parents can manage their stresses and anxieties of taking care of a family

The first step a parent can do is to learn to prioritize their daily activities. Each morning, determine what are the most important things that need to be done. List them in order and then do each task one at a time. If the first task is to go shopping then that is what you focus on. When that is finished, then focus on the second task which may be to clean the house. Perform each task one at a time. Remember that doing everything all at once can cause a lot of stress and anxiety.

Learn to communicate with your spouse. If you dont communicate with one another than you will become unorganized and stressed. This will increase your anxiety and stresses. If you and your spouse learn to work together, you will accomplish more things, you wont feel
